Lex Luthor, Doomsday, Green Lantern Rumors

Three quite distinct pieces of news and rumor today tying back to Zack Snyder’s “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” and the upcoming DC Cinematic Universe in the works at Warner Bros. Pictures.

First up, Jesse Eisenberg recently spoke with Variety about his role as the villain Lex Luthor and asked about his willingness to return to the role in later films: “I would love to. It’s a great group and director, and the most ideal character to play.”

He was also asked about whether he went bald for the role, something that still has yet to be confirmed. He responds: “I can’t say anything about this stuff. They want all this to be a surprise.”

POTENTIAL MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD

Next comes a follow-up to a rumor back in August which indicated that the corpse of General Zod (Michael Shannon) from “Man of Steel” plays an important part in the events that unfold in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice”.

That report indicated Lex Luthor was experimenting on Zod’s dead body as a key to his plan to defeat Superman. The new rumor from CBM indicates that said experiments “triggers the Doomsday genome” which re-animates the dead body and turns it into the villainous Doomsday.

Michael Shannon was photographed alongside Henry Cavill in Chicago in November during filming, but what his involvement was on the set is unknown at this time – nor is the extent to which Doomsday will feature in the film.

END MAJOR SPOILERS

Finally, and despite the failure of the Ryan Reynolds-led “Green Lantern” film, Warner Brothers intends to get the galactic hero back on screens with his own standalone film in 2020. Before that though, he’s expected to first appear in Zack Snyder’s two-part “Justice League” films in 2017 and 2018.

This weekend, “Fast and Furious” co-star Tyrese Gibson has seemingly put his hand up for the role, posting a photo of fan-art of himself as the Green Lantern along with the caption ‘Rumor has it that’ on Instagram. Gibson appears to be lobbying for the John Stewart iteration of the role, which would certainly separate it from the previous film.

Rumor has it that.
