The first image has appeared online from Jay Roach’s Trumbo, featuring Bryan Cranston as the titular screenwriter who cracked the Hollywood blacklist.
The film will tell the real-life story of Dalton Trumbo, the world’s highest-paid screenwriter back in 1950, who found himself thrown in prison for refusing to answer the questions of Congress’ House UnAmerican Activities Committee.
Blacklisted from Hollywood, Trumbo became more prolific than ever, penning a host of films such as Roman Holiday under a variety of fake names, and winning two Academy Awards into the bargain.
The new film will represent Cranston’s first major role since finishing work on Breaking Bad, and it will be nice to see him playing somebody a little more principled than Walter White…
Directed by Roach and co-starring Elle Fanning, Diane Lane and Helen Mirren, Trumbo will open in the UK in 2015, with a specific release date yet to be confirmed.
