"Bones" & "Laura" Renewed, "Following" Axed

With the TV upfronts imminent, the fate of more shows are being decided ahead of their network’s presentation.

On FOX, “Bones” has been renewed for an eleventh season but the Kevin Bacon serial killer drama “The Following” has been cancelled after three seasons. The Rainn Wilson-led comedy “Backstrom” has also been given the axe.

At NBC, the network has cancelled “State of Affairs,” “Marry Me,” “One Big Happy” and “About a Boy” on top of their just announced “Constantine” axing. They have renewed “Mysteries of Laura” for a second season and “The Night Shift” for a third, along with ordering two more new series – “The Player” and “Game of Silence”.

CBS has given new series orders for TV adaptations of the films “Rush Hour” and “Limitless,” along with medical entry “Code Black” and the “Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders” spinoff. They’ve also cancelled recent dramas “Battle Creek” and “Stalker” along with comedy “The McCarthys”.

Finally, The CW may have passed on their proposed “Tales from the Dark Side” reboot, but apparently multiple outlets have reached out to inquire about the project with the likes of Syfy, MTV, VH1 and Hulu all expressing interest.
