[Above is a recreation of the leaked teaser trailer for Hateful Eight]Quentin Tarantino’s mind seems still set in America’s past, as his last few films – Inglourious Basterds, and Django Unchained – have all been period pieces revolving around revisionist takes on historical milestones (WWII and American Slavery, for those counting).Tarantino’s new film Hateful Eight seems to invoke the hard-boiled crime …

It’s Official – Josh Trank is No Longer Directing a ‘Star Wars’ Spin-Off
Briefly: As much as I hate reporting on the non-news that someone is no longer working on a project they were originally attached to work on, if it involves Star Wars, it’s still worth mentioning. StarWars.com and Variety are reporting that Lucasfilm has officially announced and confirmed that Josh Trank (director of Chronicle and this year’s Fantastic Four reboot) will no longer be directing a Star Wars spin-off movie. Not long after Gareth Edwards got the first offer for Star Wars: Rogue One, due in theaters late 2016, Trank landed the gig to direct the next spin-off solo Star Wars movie …
Altar (2014) Film Review
by Jesse Miller MoreHorror.com ALTAR, the new horror film written and directed by Nick Willing, starts off strongly as it introduces the location, the lavish house and characters all via some gorgeous cinematography and sweeping shots of the moors. From there on, strange things begin to occur. It starts off with a rattling window, then continues with ghostly apparitions that haunt the kind family. It’s all very slow-burning stuff and rather effective, with director Nick Willing making good use of lighting and sound design to capture the atmosphere and conjure scares. The whole …

A Grey Hulk Was Almost Featured In Avengers: Age Of Ultron
A few months ago Hot Topic released an exclusive Funko POP Vinyl line that suggested a grey Hulk would be showing up in Avengers: Age of Ultron. The exclusive toy line called it the “Savage Hulk” and when the photo was released, we speculated on the Hulk’s skin pigmentation and why it would happen. Turns out that we guessed correctly, except that ultimately, Avengers 2 decided to keep him green to appease fans. But, in actuality the Grey Hulk was supposed to appear during the Hulkbuster sequence. Exploring the visual effects that went into Age of Ultron, Wired discovered that The …Click To Continue Reading

Now, Yedlin is making the jump to lightspeed with Johnson: he’ll serve as the Star Wars: Episode VIII cinematographer. Variety reported the detail quite a while back, but it was a small piece buried in an article with an unassuming headline. Making Star Wars noticed it this week. (Daniel Mindel shot The Force Awakens.)
