Divinity: Original Sin 2 – How to Respec Your Character

Divinity: Original Sin 2 is a game often lauded for the incredible depth in which players can sculpt their character, giving players a vast range of attributes and abilities at their disposal to create their dream RPG build. With the sheer number of skills and abilities Divinity 2 provides players with, it can be easy to make some ill-advised stat investments as one carves their way through Rivellon.

It can be challenging to choose your abilities wisely in Divinity 2, and Larian Studios understands this. You gain unlimited access to respec-ing via a magic mirror aboard the Lady o’ War from Act 2 onward. However, while it’s nice to have access to the magic mirror at any time after Act 1, slogging through Fort Joy with mismatched skills and abilities can lead to some challenging fights later.

Where to Find the Fort Joy Magic Mirror

Reach The Item Used To Change Stats

Introduced in the Gift Bag #2 update from developer Larian Studios, you can find the Fort Joy magic mirror below the kitchen in the Fort Joy Arena. As with any of the mods added in Larian’s Gift Bag updates, the ability to access the magic mirror in Fort Joy must first be enabled in the game’s menus. Go into your settings and select the “Gift Bag Features,” then scroll down to ensure “Fort Joy Magic Mirror” is checked.

From here, you can access the respec mirror at the beginning of your journey in Rivellon. Beginning at the point where you awaken on the beach after the game’s prologue, head directly south down the path heading towards the Ghetto. Along the way, you may encounter a few points of interest, including a battle with two Voidwoken, the Black Cat, as well as your formal introduction to the Red Prince.

This fight the beach can be extremely difficult on harder modes like Tactician, and is only recommended for those who have strong builds without the need for the Magic Mirror.

Once arriving at the Ghetto, your character (now potentially joined by the Red Prince) will stumble upon a confrontation at the front gates. After watching the brief cutscene, those who approach will then be able to enter the Fort Joy Ghetto itself. Upon entering the front gates, continue south towards the waypoint statue within this area used for fast travel.

Head through the doorway behind the statue, and you’ll reach Ghetto’s kitchen, which is run by the leader of the local gang, Griff. Look for the character Noosey, an NPC who can tell you about the Arena of Fort Joy, a place for fighters to prove their mettle. Find a hatch next to this character and interact with it to head down into the staging area of the Arena, where you can find the sparkling new Fort Joy magic mirror.

How To Use The Magic Mirror To Respec

Interact With The Artifact To Change Character Traits

Divinity Original Sin 2 respecing character through Magic Mirror

All you need to do is interact with the Magic Mirror under Fort Joy to respec your character. The options available from this artifact include being able to redistribute your Skills, Attributes, Talents, or even something as simple as your appearance. Whether you want to make a tactical or aesthetic change, you do not need to spend anything to respec however you desire.

You can respec as many times as you want once you find the Magic Mirror. This applies to the remaining members of your party as well, especially origin characters in Divinity Original Sin 2 you may have recruited, like the Red Prince. If you are unsatisfied with how the default stats or skills of a party member behave, you can opt to change them however you want by using the Mirror.

Once you have this area unlocked through a fast travel waypoint, you can return to the mirror many times throughout your playthrough. When you have access to the Mirror, you can edit anything you want at any time to best suit your tastes, or whatever the tides of battle may call for in Divinity: Original Sin 2.
