“Discover why our world went quiet.” Paramount Pictures has unveiled the first official trailer for the sci-fi prequel A Quiet Place: Day One, arriving in theaters this June in the middle of the summer. After the first two A Quiet Place movies (from 2018 & 2020), they’ve decided to go big and make the prequel – setting it in New York City when the alien creatures first arrive and wreak havoc. (There’s also a A Quiet Place III sequel in the works). There are no plot details revealed, but this trailer gives us a first look at what’s going down. Lupita Nyong’o stars as a woman named Sam in NYC caught up in the mayhem. “As everything quickly goes to hell, she’s thrown together with a man named Eric. With some reluctance, the pair agree to navigate and survive the city together.” And yes, she has a cat she brings along, and its name is Frodo. The cast includes Joseph Quinn, Alex Wolff, Djimon Hounsou, and Denis O’Hare. To top it off, this is directed by the same filmmaker who last made Nicolas Cage’s Pig movie. Bring it on! This looks awesome! Glad to see them going all out with big scale sci-fi, all of this reminds me of Cloverfield at first glance. Enjoy.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Michael Sarnoski’s A Quiet Place: Day One, direct from YouTube:

A Quiet Place: Day One is an upcoming American post-apocalyptic horror prequel. A woman fights for survival during an alien invasion in New York City – the rest of the plot is being kept under wraps for now. A Quiet Place: Day One is directed by American filmmaker Michael Sarnoski, making his second feature film after directing Pig (2021) previously, as well as a few other short films. The screenplay is also written by Michael Sarnoski, from a story by John Krasinski and Michael Sarnoski. Based on characters created by Bryan Woods & Scott Beck (for the original A Quiet Place from 2018). Produced by Michael Bay, Andrew Form, Brad Fuller, and John Krasinski. Paramount Pictures Presents, in association with Michael Bay – a Platinum Dunes / Sunday Night Production. Paramount will release Sarnoski’s A Quiet Place: Day One in theaters nationwide starting June 28th, 2024 this summer movie season. How does that look? Who’s in?
