Peter Berg will reportedly replace JC Chandor as director of the “Deepwater Horizon” movie at Summit Entertainment. The project re-teams Berg with his “Lone Survivor” star Mark Wahlberg and “The Kingdom” scribe Matthew Michael Carnahan.
The true-story account deals with the devastating 2010 BP oil spill and the men on the rig. Wahlberg plays the No. 2 manager on the doomed platform in a story about what happened behind the scenes in the 48 hours leading up to and the day of the disaster.
Berg is expected to be locked down shortly as the project has every intent of starting principal photography in April in order to meet the current September 2016 release date.
