Shiloh Jolie-Pitt Now Wants To Be Called ‘John’

8-year old Shiloh Pitt-Jolie has begun to assert her, what do they call that, ‘individuality’. Now the seemingly precocious girl wants to be called ‘John’. Okay…John. Guess she didn’t enjoy ‘hey squirt’.

John/Shiloh recently attended the Unbroken premiere dressed in a three-piece suit, looking exactly like Pitt and Jolie’s sons, Pax and Maddox. Quite sharp to be honest. Where were the mustard stains? Every dress coat needs condiment stains. According to Refinery29, John/Shiloh’s desire started early on:

Jolie told Vanity Fair in a 2010 interview that John has been exploring their identity since the age of three. “She wants to be a boy,” Jolie said. “So we had to cut her hair. She likes to wear boys’ everything. She thinks she’s one of the brothers.”

The obvious question: is Shiloh a boy in a girl’s body?

The Telegraph used the Pitt-Jolie story as an opportunity to educate adults on how to handle a child’s cross-gender explorations. It’s easy to dismiss a child’s tendency to gravitate toward toys and clothing generally assigned to its opposite gender as a phase.

The Telegraph spoke with clinical psychologist Linda Blair who advised parents to not jump to the conclusion their child is trans*. “It’s normal [for children with older siblings] to want to copy them and be like them,” Blair explained.

What a dangerous precedent to set. First, Pitt and Jolie start calling Shiloh, John. Then Maddox wants to be called ‘Mary’. By the time the 5th and 6th kids, Vivienne and Knox, join in, they don’t even have names. They’ll only answer to interpretive dance movements. “Hey *interpretive dance movement*, get yer ass to the dinner table!” Better to just let them draw on your wedding dress.
