The first TV spot has arrived online for The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies, and it places an emphasis firmly on the high-stakes scenario of the final showdown between our heroes and Sauron.
Having spent the last two films on the fringes of the narrative, Middle-earth’s big bad is back at the heart of things this time out, sending hordes of orcs to the Lonely Mountain in a concerted grab for power.
If they are going to resist him, the forces of men, dwarves and elves will have to work together, but there are some fundamental differences to be overcome first, before they can work as a team…
Take a look at the new spot below…
Battlefield carnage looks to be the order of the day in this third outing, although there are some nice dramatic moments on show here too, as Aidan Turner and Richard Armitage argue over the dwarves’ involvement in the war for Middle-earth.
Directed by Peter Jackson and co-starring Martine Freeman, Ian McKellen and Orlando Bloom, The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies will open in the UK on 12 December 2014.
