For the third year in a row, HBO’s “Game of Thrones” was the most pirated TV show online with this year’s fourth season finale scoring 8.1 million illegal downloads according to Torrent Freak. That’s considerably up on the 5.9 million record for last year’s season finale.
Otherwise there’s been some shuffling about compared with last year. “Breaking Bad” and “Dexter” wrapped last year so both shows didn’t make the cut. “Homeland” also slipped out of the top ten.
New series “Gotham” made the list with a 3.2 million for its most pirated episode, whilst both “Grey’s Anatomy” and “South Park” joined the top ten. Other shows were reshuffled with “The Walking Dead,” “The Big Bang Theory,” “Arrow” and “Vikings” all seeing big jumps whilst “Suits” saw a decline.
The list uses stats garnered from public BitTorrent trackers, but NOT from online streaming and cyberlocker downloads. Here’s the full top ten:
