Xbox and Amazon are teaming up to negate the need for an Xbox console if you are a Game Pass Ultimate member, have an Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K or Fire TV Stick 4K Max device, and have a decently fast internet connection.

Anyone with all three and a Bluetooth-enabled wireless controller will be able to access and play hundreds of titles from Xbox’s Game Pass streaming library via an Xbox app on the platform – no console required.

Multiple Bluetooth-enabled wireless controller are functional with the app including Xbox Wireless Controller, Xbox Adaptive Controller, PlayStation DualSense and PlayStation DualShock 4.

Game Pass members in over 25 countries – including the United States, Australia and New Zealand – will have access to this cloud gaming option via the Xbox app on Amazon’s Fire TV Stick 4K and Fire TV Stick 4K Max devices from July.

The announcement continues Microsoft’s push of Xbox towards more of a software and service model for gaming as opposed to the more traditional hardware/software route of rivals Nintendo and Sony.

Further information is available via the official Xbox blog for U.S. users and Australia/New Zealand users at AboutAmazon.
